WHO ARE WE?Nearly a decade ago, the Matrix Community Outreach Center opened its doors and hearts to the Walton County community with the mission to serve the unmet needs of our neighbors.
TODAY, we are proud to be a part of a network of sustainable partnerships, dedicated to bridging the gap between the needs and resources within Walton County. What started as a small-scale operation has developed into a full-scale financial, clothing, food, housing, and emotional support system for Walton County and surrounding areas. In addition; to grow and strengthen our community the Matrix works in cooperation with local government to advocate for volunteerism. In partnership with Walton County Emergency Management, the Matrix serves as the Human Services Branch Director and oversees 5 Emergency Support Functions during activations. The Matrix focuses its efforts on programs that educate and train individuals to respond safely, responsibly, and effectively in emergency situations, but also on how to support their communities day to day. Established in 2011, the Matrix C.O.C customizes its charitable efforts to meet the needs of those being serviced through a “Hand Up not a Hand Out” approach, which promotes and empowers self sufficiency. |
What we are doing in 2020Like other nonprofit organizations, the Matrix COC is prepared for crises.
We believe we speak for many when we say COVID-19 was a crisis that we did not anticipate would reach the magnitude it did within our area. This virus has crippled individuals from all backgrounds and knows no boundaries. Since its onset, the Matrix has seen a huge rise in demand. In addition to traditional clients and services the Matrix provides on a daily basis, COVID-19 brought in individuals seeking assistance after their realities were brought to a screeching halt. |

True to our mission, we responded immediately. To date, the Matrix has impacted thousands of families and distributed over ONE MILLION (1,150,942 as of November 8th) pounds of food via 27 pop-up food pantries throughout Walton County, transported Personal Protective Equipment, helped relocate families from the Musset Bayou Fire, and is now working diligently to assist those impacted by Hurricane Sally.
